Gelli Uchaf, or Upper Grove, was a working
dairy farm until 1974.
With written records dating back to 1700, the original stone farmhouse is over three hundred years old. During recent renovations an old inglenook fireplace and bread oven were discovered that suggests the building could actually date to the mid 1600.
Originally comprising of a settlement of various buildings and barns and with over 49 acres, Gelli Uchaf now comprises of the main house, converted cow milking shed, barn, the Lodge and just under 10 acres of land.
We enjoyed our stay in the Shepards Huts At Upper Gelli very much. The view from the hot tub was beautiful and it was a great place to relax and rejuvenate. Wonderful owners who were very welcoming and helpful. Will definitely book again.
Couldn’t have asked for better views, better hosts, better location, facilities…anything really.If I could give more than 5 stars I absolutely would. The layout of the Bach house (which is the cottage we stayed, they have more to suit different needs!), was perfect; it had a hot tub, a sauna, a... beautiful welcome basket filled with local goods, comfy beds, even down to a log burner and ice in the freezer. The cottage was so delightful, in fact, that we spent the majority of the getaway vacation within it!You can easily see that Upper Gelli is a labour of love and has been meticulously thought through down to the smallest details. Hats off to the hosts.My partner and I will be staying again, I also will be booking again for my parents to come and visit in the future.read more
We had a super weekend at The Bach, just sad we had to leave! We have already discussed coming back as this was our first trip to Wales and clearly there is so much more to see and do.The Bach was spotless, lovely space for us and our large dog. Checkin was great to be taken round the property,... and meet Bryn, as well as a helpful guide which I really appreciated.We didn’t eat out - the kitchen was more than ample for our dinners, and the lounge super comfortable with the stunning views and a cozy fire. LOVED the wildlife, pheasants, kites and animals around. As well as the sauna/hottub - absolute treat after a lot of walking. We felt so relaxed there, really private.It was also really kind of Bryn to let us walk our dog round the field next door and experience even more breathtaking views.They made me feel really special for my birthday weekend with some lovely little touches - thank you! I am now hooked on welshcakes having never tried them before! Hope to be back soon!read more
This place is Heaven for both humans and dogs. The place is 100 times nicer then the pictures. We are definetly coming back soon! 🐑🐑🙏🙏❤️❤️
Upper Gelli is a paradise! Bryn and Annelise are helpful and friendly. The seclusion and gorgeous views make for a fantastic break at any time of year. We can never get over how relaxing it is to sit in the hot tub and enjoy the changing weather and light, surrounded by nature.
Our Christmas stay at Upper Gelli was absolutely wonderful. The lodge itself was absolutely idyllic - everything was incredibly clean, the bed was comfortable, and the wood burner was a delightfully cosy feature that added to the magic. The magnificent views from the hot tub and the surrounding... hills were the cherry on top (the photos do not do it justice!) The fact the lodge is securely fenced in also meant our dog had a bit of space to explore off lead which was great. Bryn and Annelise went above and beyond to make our stay special, with thoughtful touches like a welcome hamper of local goodies, and beautiful Christmas decorations. This stay was the perfect way to unwind and celebrate the festive season. I highly recommend the Upper Gelli lodge to anyone looking for a peaceful and magical getaway - we hope to return in the not-too-distant future!read more
Our second trip to the beautiful Upper Gelli Lodge and it was as wonderful as the first!Annelise and Bryn are wonderful hosts and really have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible, even leaving a gorgeous basket of goodies for us (and the dog) in the kitchen.Despite... arriving in the middle of a storm the lodge could not have been more cosy and it was quite something to watch the rain and wind from the warmth of the hot tub!We’re already looking forward to our next visit.read more
